Odour Control Systems
With heightened awareness of the potential problems
associated with maladours from industrial and municipal processes comes an
incumbent responsibility on the generators of these odours to control their
emission to the atmosphere.
Shivas, provide a comprehensive range of abatement equipment utilising dry
and wet scrubbing techniques, either independently or in combination to
achieve the most effective control system. Odours are perceived from a wide
range of processes and are derived from a broad range of chemical types. In
order to treat this variation different media and technologies are
implemented.

For instance, where high levels of hydrogen sulphide
are present, the use of catalytic iron filtration media is used to reduce
the concentration of the odourous compound to allow the effective use of
activated carbon to be achieved. This measure ensures optimum use of the
activated carbon to prolong its life and ensure that rigorous discharge
consent limits can be attained. The activated carbon used is determined in
relation to the nature of the odourous compound present and can be supplied
in the form of either a standard untreated grade, or a chemically
impregnated type for enhanced loading capacity and removal efficiency.

suitable, due to process constraints for example, wet scrubbing methods can
be implemented. Single or multiple stage stripping towers can be used to
treat mixed contaminant air streams in a number of steps. Full chemical
addition equipment is provided that can be automated to reduce the need for
operator supervision.

The application of Shivas equipment offers a
number of advantages. Amongst these are :
- Use of multiple step abatement solutions
- Media optimisation methodologies
- In-house design and proving of abatement technologies
- Combination process solutions using a variety of technologies to
achieve odour reduction
- Extended design capability for ancillary items and abatement plant
